Dojo Montreal Shotokan Karate is located in the city of Pointe-Claire, it has been serving Montreal's West-island area since 2022. Founded by Sensei Nabil Belhaj, Dojo Montreal Shotokan Karate is dedicated to teaching authentic Japanese Karate. As a proud member of Quebec ISKF, affiliated with the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF), our dojo is part of a worldwide organization recognized for its tradition, discipline, and excellence.
Our mission is to preserve and share traditional Japanese Karate, while also giving students the opportunity to explore the competitive side of Sport Karate.
Traditional Karate
Traditional karate emphasizes physical and mental development: discipline, respect, self-confidence, self-defense, and personal growth. Students progress at their own pace, in a supportive and respectful environment.
Sport Karate
We also offer Sport Karate training, focused on competition in kata and kumite. Students develop speed, precision, strength, and endurance, while preparing for tournaments at the regional, national, and international levels.
At our dojo, every student can choose their path: traditional karate, sport karate, or a combination of both.
About the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF)
The ISKF is a traditional Shotokan Karate organization, founded by Master Teruyuki Okazaki, who studied directly under Master Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan Karate. The ISKF is a non-profit organization that strives to uphold the integrity and goals of Master Funakoshi, which includes following the guidelines and principles set forth by the Dojo Kun and Niju Kun. The ISKF is rich in tradition, but continuously moves forward to bring all countries together to follow these same guidelines. It is our sincere hope that this website be used as a guide to help in this endeavor.
The ISKF was founded in September 1977. Shihan Teruyuki Okazaki, 10th dan, the Chairman and the Chief Instructor of the ISKF (retired), and Shihan Yutaka Yaguchi, 9th dan, the Vice Chairman and the Vice Chief Instructor (retired), were two of the original founders. Today, the ISKF is comprised of over twenty-eight Pan American countries, and over thirty-two countries from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The ISKF is still growing and continually adds new clubs and countries to its membership, and currently has over 75,000 individual members worldwide.
